World Player of the Week
Few goals in Manchester City’s history have been as memorable and historic as Sergio Aguero’s against Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League on Sunday, and none so dramatic. With City trailing QPR 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium and Manchester United winning 1-0 at Sunderland, Roberto Mancini’s side were on course to lose the league title to the Red Devils. But there was a glimmer of hope in the second minute of injury time when Eden Dzeko equalised. The game at the Stadium of Light ended and for a couple of minutes United had the title in their grasp once again. But up popped Aguero, who slid into space and slotted the ball home from close range in the fourth minute of additional time. City would go on to win the match 3-2 and clinch their first Premier League crown. It was the Argentina international’s 23rd league goal of the campaign and by far the most important. Aguero is a world-class player and his addition to the City squad has been indispensable. Congratulations to Aguero, Goal.com's 156th World Player of the Week winner!
